Hi All,

Recently I purchased a used RSR 250 with most of the needed equipment.

It came with a JBJ ATO, with a small pump, but the pump uses something like 3/4 tubing. I would like to use a pump with smaller diameter tubing so I can run it to the probe holder. Is it ok to run the top off line by the probes or will it throw them off?

What submersible pump would be best to use with something like 1/4 tubing?

When I ran the JBJ, I used an aqualifter pump. It doesnt pump a lot but it gets the job done.
Its not submersible though.

I am using an eheim compact ON 300. I think it uses half inch tubing. Really any moderately priced utility pump should be fine depending on the distance and height it's pumping water from. I've used koralia pumps in the past. I went with eheim simply because my eheim return pump has lasted 13+ years.

My quick forum search turned up using an aqualifter, but as you stated, not submersible.

My setup came with a 10 gallon reservoir, so I would like to keep the pump inside if possible as that takes up most of the free space anyway.

The cobalt MJ-1200 style pumps are what I'd suggest. They're the most durable for the money IME.
