I am looking for advice on how to complete a successful leak test on my new 35 gallon aqualantis aquaview 65 tank( it has a sump). This is my first aquarium with a sump in the system and I would like to test my system for leaks and make sure everything is running smoothly before I start with cycling the tank.

I am not able to test it with rodi water as that would take forever to do so I’m wondering if I can use tap water and then add prime to it for the test. I don’t want to use just tap water as I’m sure when I drain it I won’t be able to get every last drop out of the tank before I add the saltwater I make. Does this seem like overkill or would it work if I missed a few drops since the water would have been treated by prime. I will soak the pump in rodi water after this test aswell just in case.

So the prime isn’t necessary? If I have drops left over of tap water it isn’t going to affect my system?

A few drops mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.
If it bothers you dry with a paper towel.

I leak tested with TAP. Then I added salt.
I cycled my tank with this Tap water and Prime.
After cycling is when I used 0 tds RODI.
