Leak Testing aquarium

Ok I know this is probably a pretty basic question, but in 10 years of reefing I have never had to do it. I am doing my first ever hard plumb tank. I would like to leak test it with TAP water. Is there any real risk doing this or am I just being overly cautious? Should I just do a quick rinse with RO after?

You're being overly cautious. Tap water is fine for leak testing.

Should be fine. Extra wipe down with some RO couldn't hurt

Ya ur good. U can rinse with ro if it makes u feel better but ur gonna cycle.
As long as you dont continuesly add tap or ro to your tank ur good.

Curious as to what's in tap water you're so cautious over? If you plan on dumping 99.9% of it out of the system.

You know smthg I don't and I shouldn't make lemonade with tap water and actually drink it.

Nothing really, my tap water is only 34 PPM anyway, just figured I would ask, the amount of money I am dumping into this tank, really didn't want to do something stupid and mess it up. Really just verifying what I had already surmised

The water I wasn't concerned about, I was more concerned about stuff in the water possibly sticking to glass and equipment. If the question answered itself, then I wouldn't have asked.
