Learned a hard lesson

Hello everyone,

I don't chat much but I just like to follow along, read and learn. The one thing I didn't learn was the importance of having an Apex Controller or similar item to monitor my equipment. Got home from work last night and walked into a smelly house. Came around the corner and saw my 125G cloudy. Walked up to the tank and all the coral were dead. All the fish were dead except four. Dipped my finger in the water and it was HOT. The heater must have got stuck on cooked everything. Just wanted to let everyone know what happened and try to keep it from happening to anyone else. I am sick to my stomach as 10 years of coral and fish are gone like that. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I'm feeling today.

Unfortunately I can't reinvest with livestock so I am tearing it down and selling it, equipment and all. I will be posting items later as I don't have enough "post" to qualify for selling items as of now. If you don't have a controller, please look into purchasing one, or at the very least, have two smaller heaters and not one big one like I had.

What a bummer! Before you throw in the proverbial towel, I will offer you some frags of coral free if you ever make it to the SF Bay area. Also, perhaps there are other reefers near you that would be happy to give you some pieces to get re-started?

Wow... I'm really sorry to hear that, and I hope you change your mind.

However, if you don't, I think you can post items for sale here on the local forum without a minimum post requirement, just not on the selling forum.

I'm sure we could come up with some frags for you, to get going again. The AZ Frag group has a great group of people in it, who I'm certain would be happy to help.

I do really appreciate the offer to help kickstart it again. I've been to several auctions and meetings and yes, AZ Frag people are amazing. I still have a a 20 gallon so I'm not out completely, I just don't think I can start over on that one.

As for selling on here, I hope that is the case. Currently cleaning everything so it might be a few days before I post things. I will create a new thread when I do
