Hello, I have LED lights I want to install in my living room. They are 6" LED lights with a 120 degree angle. My question is, how far apart should they be for a 14' ceiling to avoid dark areas?

They will be used for Tasks such as being able to read while sitting on a couch or chair. I have searched but I can not find any info on this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I started to run the calculations but it might be a bit...

Hello and welcome to the channel. This question will depend on the light spread. Each LED light has a different spread. The Radion XR30 has a max spread of 32x32", the Kessil A360 has a spread of 24x30", and so on.

I have recessed lighting throughout my house and they are spaced 7feet apart with even light distribution

Welcome to R2R. to try and help with your question with 9' high ceilings we usually put them about 4' apart, since your ceiling is much higher you are safer to put them wider apart 5-6' as they have a wider cast range with your ceiling. keep in mind colour matters a warmer light will seem dimmer the further it casts, and it depends on the lumens. A whole slue of other variables comes into play as well as paint colour flooring ect ect ect but there are some great online calculators that you can use for your layout if it is a large area I would suggest running them on different switches to change the mood from medical lab bright to smooth jazz boww-chicka-wao-wao dim.
