I am tired of replacing T5 bulbs so I'm moving towards LEDs. Problem is, I have a specific hood that I need to keep. Please help me pick a good setup that would work with this hood. I have no problem cutting the top of the hood to flush mount the LED modules. I already installed computer case fans, so adding these really aren't a big deal.

My tank is a flat back hex, 48"L, 18"W, 24"H. It looks like this: http://www.tropicalfishstore.com/Aquarium-flatbackhex.htm

The tank is a mixed tank with some high end SPS at the top, and high end LPS towards the bottom with softies and zoas throughout.

If it helps, my controller is an Neptune Apex and I have a VDM module for my Tunze 6095 powerheads (not sure if I'll need another VDM).

Thanks!

Would I have any problems flush-mounting it?

Can I dial in the color like with the Radion or is it kind of pre-set values? Sorry for the new guy questions, I'm still trying to figure these things out!

If you cut the canopy it could be flush mounted, there are 2 channels digitally controlled, blues and the rest. Very easy to program. Remember this $500 for one reef breeder, $1200 in radios to light the tank, Logan at reef breeders does custom color layouts as well

Any AI light could be mounted tight against the inside of the canopy top so long as you cut a 4" hole for the fan to pull in fresh air. You could drill 2 holes for the mounting hardware and use the screws to "hang" the lights from the lid. Depending on the thickness of the material you may need to buy longer threads. Use 10/32 threads, however be sure you do not over tighten them as the screw can damage the circuitry inside if you drive them in too deep. Finger tight would be best.

Rich @ Reef Radiance gets all my business .... BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! And really good pricing! Can get a single unit to light your entire tank for less than $400.00
