Limpets Extraordinary

I waited 3 weeks before I finally got around to cleaning the front glass of the emerging coralline last time. Turbos keep it green algae free.

Throw in 3 emerald crabs and they will usually keep that type of stuff from happening.

Wow, that is some Gangsta turbos.
I know right... and they knew that i put a new sheet up every morning and afternoon... so they will **** on the glass and wait... and as soon as it hit the water.. it was a race to the oposite side if the tank.. both tangs and the fox face won't go near the nori if the turbos are there...

I feed calderpa Prolifera from the fuge now... so the turbos are S.O.L.

There's 5 in there at the moment (2 in the sump) and a Sally lightfoot crab.
I like sally lightfoots better than emeralds... they are way faster and eat way more..

I wish I had pictures of mine at its worse... I had troll hair covering 250 plus lbs of live rock... every day I would pick at it and pick at it.

Pincusion urchins also mow a path in their wake.. leaving bright white rock behind.. but be careful adding too many.. because once the algae is gone.. your gonna need to feed or trade/sell em
1 pincusion keeps my 90 clean.. even ate my cool tiny florescent green feather dusters :-(

Clinton, I know this is an awful difficult suggestion to follow, but have you tried going in and pulling the hair algae out by hand? It can be a very laborious project, but I found the more often I pulled it off the rocks, less of it would grow back. And there was less of it for my algae eaters to go after and finish the job. It took me about a month of pulling algae every 3 or 4 days as it grew back, but eventually it was removed completely to the point that the algae eaters kept the tank clean.

Good luck.
Ron, this has been some of the best advice. I recently quit the job that was leaving me neglecting my tank and have really been making a dent in any hair algae. I also now from time to time take a tooth brush to the rock while siphoning into a filter sock in my sump :). No doubt with the hair it's a physical hands on approach to make it better.

Glad to hear the tank is getting better. I hope that quitting the job ends up being an improvement as well!

She's still super messy. I'm glad I quit my restaurant management job and started manufacturing pharmaceuticals hourly! The cleaner the tank, the happier and happier the residents get. The die off from rubbing hair algae brought a bit of a cyanobacteria problem. Last week was daily water changes. This is after no water changes for a week. Clearly it's not quite to only weekly water changes with that cyano running rampant. About to get started on a 15% water change now :D
