I currently have 2 Kessil A160WE Tuna Blue w/ Spectral Controller running on my tank.

I want to add some 48” high output T5.

I also don’t see the need to pay 299-599 for a fixture when we have a wood shop and enjoy doing projects.

Have any of you incorporated your Kessil and T5 via DiY?

I’d love to see some photos!

I basically made my own versions of the Aquatic Life T5/LED fixtures using some nice fine grained wood. I combined a T5 retrofit kits from BRS and AI, LED's. I built two fixtures, one fore each of my tanks. Pics to follow.

Here some pics from my larger tank, a 40g breeder

I'm early in the planning process but adding 2 single bulb t5's to my nano lagoon. Using Kessil however its A80's so a completely different form factor.

I plan on 1 1/4" black pipe as the mounting arm so that I can run all the cords through the inner chamber so its a completely enclosed canopy without any wire hanging. A bit industrial vibe to the finished product. Here is the stand and tank as it exists today. The pipe would attach to the tenon closer to the wall.

Did you by chance make any notes or can give me a list of what you used?? I LOVE that look.
But, I don’t weld. Buttttt I have a Harbour Freight near me.

Did you use aluminum 90° and straight pieces?

Any in sight would be appreciated.

90deg aluminum pieces and flat aluminum Home Depot or lowes. Rivet pop gun at harbor freight and steel pop rivets. Lay and cut to size as a frame clamp drill 2 lil holes slide rivet in and squeeze the pop rivet pliers and pop you got it.

what fixtures did you use to power it? Something from Home Depot or Lowe’s?

What kind of light fixture is that? I'm trying to figure out if i could get away with using just a plain T5 fixture from the hardware store? I mean i don't see why it wouldn't work, but i want to make sure it will before i start planning my own build.

Really nice light BTW!!
