I have a new Jebao dp-4 dosing pump. Programming it wasn't too bad but when it's running it's loud. Any tips on quieting this unit? It's been running for less than a week. The noise it makes reminds me of a time when TV stations use to end programming for the night and static played until morning.

Double check for air bubbles in the line , hold the unit below the fluid container and prime it

Shake and tap it and see if any come out

Is it necessary to have a vent hole in a dosing container to allow for full suction? I have glass containers. When the pumps are running, there are still air bubbles in each line, I'm wondering if adding a hole in the top/lid would help with flow. Kinda like you would with a can of pineapple juice. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, those are simply loud dosing pumps. And very fast. Yes you need vent holes to allow air to replace the liquid you’re removing. Otherwise you create a vacuum and either implode the container or the tubing.

Do you have experience with using one that you would recommend? At this point I'm willing to take a loss and try a different pump. I dose throughout the day and at night when the house is silent, this thing is loud enough that the wife isn't happy.

Mine makes practically no noise. With the doors shut on my stand I can't hear it go off at the programmed times. Mine came with an extra pump head, if you can identify which one is loud [hopefully not all of them] then you can try replacing the head to see if it makes a difference.

I used the brs dosing pumps with my old controller for several years. So you’d need a basic reefkeeper light or similar to run them. They were slow and pretty quiet. I had that jebao at work and could not handle how loud it was.

Thanks, guess I'll be in the market for another one.

I have two Jeabos. A three an a two.
One pump head made noise. i bled it. Works fine.

If it's a used one , you may need to clean it , yes you don't want a hard seal on the bottle, just like the pineapple can. Yes

I bought it new, just started using it. Never used one before but I feel like this can't be sounding right.

It's possible you got a bad one. Yea.
Id maybe try the calibration again with some water at the table.

Any update merfish101, curious if it only needs bleeding just as saltyfilmfolks suggested.

I noticed that there was a rattle coming from inside the unit, I took it apart and found a capacitor cover rolling around. Figured I would just remove it and resolder a replacement.
Going to order a cap on line because WHERE ARE ALL OF THE RADIO SHACKS???
