Nope.
It will suspend the nutrients in the water Collumn even more as coral will feed on it but your skimmer will remove most of it.
NMB isn’t for everybody but I won’t go without it anymore.

I've taken my filter socks out to raise my nutrients at the moment. Beginning to think I might turn off my skimmer at night. NMB during that period might be beneficial???

You only NMB during the night.
Start out only one hour and increase every week 30min.
Skimmer on during this period, but off during the day.
If you feel uncomfortable with skimmer off than don’t.

I'm game. Just outta curiosity. How long do your stones last before you have to replace them?

I use wood.
@chris85 made some for me but I ran out of his and had to buy from eBay but these lady me 2 on the most 3 weeks.
Just remember that only about 5% of the really nano micro bubbles will end up sucked up by your return pump to make it in the DT.
Only with a red flash light you should able to see a light haze in the water, if you can see it with the naked eyes your bubbles are to large.
Sometimes I’m wondering if it still working.

Roger that. Thank you.

You could also try some algae of some sort to help? Macro, ats, phytoplankton

The airstones are fairly easy to make, If you have some diy skills and some superglue you just have to use the end grain.

@Diesel I still have some basswood if you need some more just let me know?

15-gallon remote refugium on a reverse light cycle up and running. My calcium reactor effluent is plumbed to the refugium. My problem is I have 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates so it is slow to stagnant Chaeto growth. I also have Codium, Halimeda, Caulerpa Serrulata, and Neomerus Annulata in the fuge.

Just outta curiosity. Can you ship some Basswood? Rockler wants $68.00 to ship a 20# box. Still pretty good and that should make a lot of stones..

Sorry I missed that!! That's alot of algae no wonder you don't have any nutrients.
I would try and get all the junk that comes out of you tank to the fuge if possible and let it settle out for awhile.

Do you have a craft store near by? Micheals, hobby lobby, Wal-Mart even has it some times.

If you can't find it hit me up.

There are many different kinds of algae just not much of it.
PM sent.

This is why I love my shadow. Synergy reef Did it right and simple.... and was my 1st overflow from a HOB. SIMPLE!!! And so many options. Not a RR tank guy. This is awesome I don’t have an issue as no apex 2 monitor besides Hanna and always on the same at the times I test but Ima do this on my 75g. It has 2 b an outside source? I’d b worried about ants or bugs. Is it possible like planted tanks use co2 diffusers that a airstone added 2 the rear of the overflow or in the hose making contact?

Yes, aeration to raise pH usually has to be outside air, unless the tank has poor enough aeration to begin with that it has excess CO2 relative to the inside air.

No need of a stump remover.
Btw, stumpremover is pure potassium nitrate.
I prefer sodium nitrate from loudwolf, less potassium dosing to upset already the autodosing\melting through my CaRx.
Sodium is just a form of salt.

Yes, outside. You can simply put a filter on the exterior to prevent bugs. Foam-floss-carbon. I made this...

What is your dosing amount/schedule for sodium nitrate?
Sweet tip on loudwolf BTW. Thank you. Order in...
