Mag increasing

Help

Over the past 8 day's my Magnesium has been steadily increasing, I have not dosed any. Since the 16th it has steadily gone up from 1408 to today is 1515.

I have a trident so I thought that might be the issue, I changed Reagents, preformed three complete tests than calibrated

The new reagent is reading same reading as old, when I calibrated it read the correct % in bottle. I run a Kalk stirrer so I thought maybe Mag powder got int my Kalk. I cleaned Kalkstirrer opened new package of Kalkwasser and started it up. retested 5 hrs after turning on Kalkstirrer,

I am getting same steady increase,

Thoughts?

Has your salinity gone up over this time period? Or have you done a water change?

Anticipating a tank move so Added 35 Gal of saltwater on or about the 16th, you got me thinking,

Did you test the Mg manually? Using a Salifert or any other kit other than the Trident.

No, my head said since it tested the known sample correctly I didn't need too

1515 isn’t bad. I would just lower your salinity back to 35 and your mag should drop. I would just do it over time with water changes

I wouldn't rely on the salinity probe myself. Check with a refractometer before adjusting anything.
Wheres your alk testing at?

Ive been in a similar boat since trying to run a lower alk level of 7.5. Brought Alk up to 8.7 over the past couple weeks and my mag has begun dropping. Im at 1471 as of my last reading. Lowest its been since I fired up the Trident in November.
