hey guys i have a question regarding the proper way to dose magnesium. I have a 32 biocube with a magnesium level of 920 using a ted sea magnesium pro test kit. I purchased a bottle of brightwell magnesium according to marinedepot magnesium calculator i would have to add 380 ml of magnesium. I figured i couldnt add this amount at once what will be the proper way of doing it?

i was doing 12 ml per day i am now at 1200 after testing the water again today. Was i adding too much to fast can this have a negative impact on my hammer corals?

my paremeters are

ph 8.0
Alkalinity 10
Calcium 420
Nitrate 5
Nitrite 0
Amonia 0
Magnesium 1200

That doesn’t seem unreasonable. Any negative reactions from the sea life?

It's very unusual for magnesium to be that low. Magnesium is consumed very slowly compared to alkalinity and calcium. This is likely either testing error or a problem with your salt mix/source water. I would get another test kit and verify the results. There have been lots of reports on the forum of inaccuracy with the Red Sea magnesium tests.

Your magnesium shouldn’t really need to be dosed — just do regular water changes with quality salt and it’s 3 x’s calcium. Get it up using brs calculator and then water changes. Or that’s the hope!
