These were sprouted and kept in fresh water. This actually my second batch of mangrove. Salt shocked the first 5 as i thought they had been raised in salt. I asked this last guy what he grew his in so i didn't fry em lol

Aha. That make perfect sense.

Now I want to do a deep tank with land and sea and have critters that can go in and out of the water.

Ugh I wish there were tiny sea turtles.

I love the look of mangroves, although you'd need a ton if nutrient export is their main purpose.

I have one in my main display and my tangs are constantly nibbling on the algae that accumulates on the roots.

Tiny sea turtles would be awesome but alas, my shrink ray isn't functioning yet [emoji23].
I've been contemplating a brackish tank with mudskippers, cool little critters they are.

Great nitrate remover, very ornamental as mine has flowered and easy care.
They come from Florida, so purchase from a florida vendor if possible although most LFS who carry them get them from Florida as well

Jsker pretty much nails it. Iv'e kept mangrove in the past. The top 3/4 to 1/2 need to be above the water line the roots need to anchor into a rock or such . They extrude salt thru the leaves. They need to be sprayed with fresh water every so often . They look pretty cool but never saw any difference in nutrients. Maybe if You had a whole bunch .I only had 5 or 6 . Let us know what You do.
