I am in the process of selling off my corals and I am a bit unsure of how much to ask for some pieces. I have some really cool pieces that I bought as small or even tiny frags and I am curious of people opinions. For example I have a 25+ piece of UFO micromussa that I bought as 2 polyps for $90, or I have about 6 polyps of the ex-tyree pink floyd that I got as 1 polyp for $85. It seems a little much to just multiply the price by the polyp count. What would you do?

Depending how much you got it for, and how much it multiplied. I say at least get your money back.
Or if it that hard of a choice, you can send the corals to me. :D

There isn't a rule-of-thumb on how to price exotic corals that demand such a high price per polyp. You are correct that simply multiplying the polyps by what you paid is a bit much. With that said however, I would put in the price the amount you paid per polyp and what the per polyp price would end up being for your colony. For example, if you had 5 polyps you were selling for $200, say that you paid $90 per polyp and this works out to be $40 per polyp. Also, its unusual to see large colonies of these as most people frag them out to recoup their costs, so in my opinion they should be worth more.

If you're worried about recouping your costs or getting what they are really worth, you may be better off fragging and selling the frags...its hard for someone to shell out hundreds of dollars for a colony when they could spend $90 and grow their own.

Sounds like you have some very nice pieces that you have paid market price for. I don't have any micros so not sure about market price, but you should not feel compelled to sell them at a steep discount just because they have grown very well for you. I am not saying charge straight up per polyp pricing but don't sell yourself short. I don't see too many other people just giving them away. List them at what you consider a fair price that will allow you to sell them within the time frame you see fit.

Good ideas. If I do sell them as whole pieces I can only assume that it will get broken up and sold any way though.

Stve. Depending on prices I might be interested in some of the whole micro colonies. Let me know what you decide.

do you have any pics of them?
im not very familiar with micro names and coloration yet

I think everyone's pretty much covered what I thought of except I would also for your own sake recommend you find someone you trust (and probably better if they're local) that can hold small frags of these for you because when things calm down for you if/when you decide to set up a tank it would be a shame for you to start from scratch and have to hunt everything down. Just my 2 cents fwiw :)
