Oh yeah it's happening
And I've got my own filtration, heating, nutrient removing system, and flow all planned out.
Here's a sneak peak of what's to come

Nice setup it'll work great. There's no telling how far downsized we can go with standard reefing arrangements. To me the minimum is set by how accurately we can heat/temp control a setup.

It's not the evaporation or the circulation, those are the easy parts. The salinity control in that jar will beat most tanks here

I like the skip cycle/coralline rock approach. It's the only way I'll reef too I need coralline faster than I'm willing to wait to earn it naturally. Instant food web too

This is how I want to it to go:
The mason jar will over flow out of the top into a bottom tray (the resivour or sump) seeing as I don't have acess to a drill to cut an over flow it just needs to overflow, this water will trickle down the jar into the "sump" the water will slowly pass through filter floss go through the refgiuium and pulled in by the return pumps or pump, the water will go through airline tubing into the tank, allowing flow and filling the jar up all the way and completing the cycle all over again

That's a darn good gas exchange plan then. :)

Of course it will need to cycle, I do have media from my other tank, although it may take a week or two to cycle, I'm also lacking the pumps and the resivour needed, likely the sump will be a one gallon tank

Ok instead of the setup sitting in water, I’m going to have an actual sump for the setup, I have a little cabinet that I’m going to drill into and place the sump inside, this way the tank won’t be an eyesore

Good deal

If it helps at all, and you prob already know anyway, those $7 diamond tip bits from dremel will cut any shape you want in hobby glass for plumbs etc

I used them to drill uber thin decorative vases for line incoming, and they’re so accurate I was able to remove the bottom glass out of api tubes (so delicate) for other projects
