Hi,
I'm looking for recommended A/B balance for my Maxspect 420R 16k fixture.
What is the ratio of A/B you are using to light your reef tank?
Are you growing sps, lps, or mixed?

Thanks

Set it by eye to whatever looks good. at a 1:1 ratio its 16k. thays so you can choose more or less blue. from 20k to about 10k. All of those colors are well known to grow coral. I would recommend not too much blue as you lose par.
Intensity is much more important..

How can you calculate the k value?
Is it an weighted-average of all bulbs?
Here is the set-up for Maxspect LED
A channel has: 6 cool white (8000k), 6 royal blue (450-465nm), and 6 warm white (3000k)
B channel has: 9 blue (465-485nm), royal blue (450-465nm), and 6 super actinic (410-420nm)
How does wavelength translate to k-value?
What does k-value represent?
Is intensity related to wattage?
Thanks

Is more visual, I have the same fixture. You can check the color spec on the Maxspect site too.
The rest of the questions are pretty in depth and complex on how a single frequencies add up to a kelvin range.
You can mix 14k several different ways, so id suggest keeping it simple.

What does k-value represent?
Kelvin. Direct sun and sky are are 6500 degrees kelvin. Sun with no sky can be 4500k, sky with no sun about 10,000.(and up to 20,000)

Is intensity related to wattage?
No. Esp with lenses as they intensify the/focus the light.(magnifying glass frying ants.)

Heres some suggested reading..

Color and intensity together = par, so for ease, choose a color ratio you like to look at. than set intensity with a meter, that fixture is really easy to change settings.
