woah, never seen that before, different from gasping it seems. I dont see it breathing heavy, but hard to tell in the video, if it is breathing heavy might need better oxygenation in the water. Is it eating? might have associated the surface with food? otherwise just stange behavior for an angel.
It doesn't look like a feeding effort/response to me. Does he do it continuously or does he do it intermittently and act normally the rest of the time?
i had a china wrasse do that in QT awhile back. when i'd take the top off for a water change she'd sit there spitting water at me lol, guess she didn't like me..
i never really figured out what the deal was. does your multibar eat? that was my issue with the china wrasse, it just never ate much. i tried all kinds of floating foods to see if it was feeding related, but nothing.. pretty sure it wasn't oxygen related in my case
are you doing TTM? i'll be curious to know if your fish keeps doing it as you move tanks. mine kept doing it in every tank i put her in, it was weird
I walked into a LFS once and was looking at their huge display tank. I saw water on the floor around the sump area. Finally I made my way next to the rubbermaid sump for the tank and all of a sudden water shot out at me! Turns out they banished a mean niger trigger to the sump and any time someone would get near he would spit at people. Little fellow definitely had a chip on his shoulder as he could get some good range. When I called my fiance over to look, she got a little too close and he managed to get her feet wet! lol
