need electrical help with a pump

I've got this pump that cannot maintain a constant flow rate, and I want to try wiring it up without the control box.

Is it possible to do that, or will it just result in some kind of failure or danger?

I don't believe that you can do that.

maybe not but I'm thinking the DC adapter sets the max power level. But I need someone who really knows electrical stuff to tell me what exactly the box does and why this won't work.
