Hey all,

Looking for some good Radion settings. I'm not looking for the tank to be really blue but not too white. I'll add a few photos below of what I'm looking for.
Thanks.

FYI echotec Radion and AI Hydra are the same company. There tech support is great. And on that not here are my settings for my Hydra's

If you already have an idea what you like in terms of looks, can't you just dial in that color and then use a [HASHTAG]#lux[/HASHTAG] or [HASHTAG]#par[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#meter[/HASHTAG] to dial in the intensity?

I mean, you should be able to....but is there a reason you can't on that particular light?

If you don't have a light meter, then start by downloading a $free lux meter app for your smartphone.

Use the meter to dial in your lights by way of surface measurements.

Is it a brand new light on a brand new tank? Or just a brand new light, but old tank? (Other?)

So how many lux?

Anywhere from around 20,000 to 80,000 lux seems to be acceptable. (around 400-1600 PAR) But it's good to remember that it's rarely a more-is-better scenario.

In general, from a photosynthetic coral's point of view...
  • they can survive down to about 1% of surface illumination levels. (100,000 lux * 1%) = 1000 lux (or 20 PAR)
  • they reach their light compensation point around 5,000-10,000 LUX (100-200 PAR)
  • they seem to do really well with anything above their compensation point
  • light levels only tell a small part of your tank's story - work in concert with nutrients and flow, along with other factors like water clarity
You also have quite a few "lagoon" corals...the light conditions are notably different for "offshore" or deeper water corals than for the more coastal ones.

These recipes are quite blue on my Hydras- granted, I'm early in an acclimation cycle so the levels are quite low (it does look a little better when I go to normal brightness). I've got mine set on the LPS recipe.

@d2mini, are you using one of these settings on your tank? (I thought I read it somewhere in your build thread, but could track it down just now).
