Is Parashield reef safe? Can it be dosed in a DT?

The guy I saw using it was dosing in a full blown reef. Parashield contains Capsaicin Oil, Chitosan, D-Limonene, Manuka and Neem Oil. I don't think any of those ingredients will harm corals/inverts; however I also don't understand how they can harm velvet. ;) Perhaps all the oils stick to the fish's skin and that makes it more difficult for the dinospores to attach.

That is exactly how it works...supposedly.

@Humblefish how often can i do a FW dip? I did loose the male trigger and now the female trigger is slowing down and is starting to have a lot of mucus build up? I have all of the fish in an 18g Qt tank with copper and plenty of air stones going. Im about to start lowering the temp to 70.

Fish can only take so many FW dips before it begins to negatively impact them, especially a weak fish. If you FW dip a fish and then place him in copper, you've done all you can do IMHO. You just have to wait for the trophonts to drop off and copper to shield the fish from reinfection.

But if you wanted to do another FW dip (triggers are tough), I would wait at least 48 hrs in-between. IME; doing one every 24 hrs is just too much for them to take. They need at least 48 hrs in-between to recuperate.

well i have lost both triggers and my harlequin tusk. all that is left are the 4 green chromis and my Coris wrasse. I have heard that copper can be ruff on Wrasses what level should i be shooting for to help him out the best he seems to he fine except that he hates the QT tank(still eating and everything). i put a small tub with some sand in the QT tank to make him more comfortable.

I'm sorry for your losses. :( what copper are you going to use? With Cuppramine (seachem test kit) you would want between .3 and .5 - i always shoot for .5 so I have some wiggle room for it to drop a little and still be therapeutic. With Coppersafe or CopperPower (API test kit) you would want between 1.5 to 2ppm

i have Cupraine copper with a seachem testkit and Kordon ich attack. i have been soaking the food for 10 min in the kordon.

Alright then, you'll shoot for .5 ppm, knowing that .3 will be ok, but the test is hard to read and aiming for .5 will give you some leeway

yea i have found that it is the hardest test i have to read. i just wasnt sure if i should keep it lower with the wrasse or not.

thanks, i hate loosing fish. its not even about the money, thier life was in my hands and i hate having them die on my watch. i spend all kinds of money on the tank making it perfect but the one thing i didnt do was QT them... i guess everyone learns.

should i dose the QT with the Kordon ick attack along with the copper? i have been dosing 5ml per 10g twice a day of the kordon

Essentially kordon ich attack is the same as the copper. Im sorry to hear of your losses. Lessons learned are knowledge gained! ;) you got the best help out there with humblefish and melypr. I would have suggested the same. Ive just been so busy lately i dont have a lot of time.

I would stick primarily with the copper. Ick Attack is just an herbal remedy and IMHO optional in this situation.
