Need help with 40b build

Tank: 40gal breeder
Filtration: Built in sump box w/ 3 chambers. Return pump is sicce syncra silent 1.0. Running some carbon and filter floss in a media basket. Circulation: Hygger wave maker 1600gph
Lighting: Radion xr15 g6 blue

Planning to add an additional 1600gph wave maker and will eventually add a reef octopus skimmer. Feeling like current filtration is not sufficient, does anyone have any advice?

Cycling technically, but rocks, water and filter media are all from a cycled tank. No fish

if the tank has no fish you don’t need a skimmer yet. unless you want to run the skimmer before getting fish so it can start breaking in
