I just picked up a steal of a deal on a reef ready 40B. The tank is brand new and has what looks like most of a Durso drain installed with a glass weir.

See below pictures. I’ve been in the AIO game since coming back to the hobby. My prior experience with plumbed tanks was in the days of converted Amiracle wet dry sumps and single drain overflows with corrugated hoses. Just want to make sure I get this right.

It has two 1” drains that have vented caps and 90 degree fittings about two inches below the weir. They are both cut to the same height. My current questions are:

Does this look good as is as far as the overall height, and then both being the same height?

I’m assuming that I have to add a couple of street 90’s to get the openings facing down, correct?

The tank has a blue background painted on and it looks great. I am less happy with the glass weir showing the stark white pipes. Is there an option to get blue pipes somewhere? Alternately, I’m thinking about securing a piece of blue acrylic over the weir, but not sure how to bond that to glass.

Any other comments or suggestions? I will be taking my time, refinishing the stand, etc. I’m open to any reconfiguring that does not involve redrilling the glass.

You might want to have one lower then the other & take the cap off of the higher one to act as an emergency drain.

Yes, my initial thought is to order blue pvc from BRS and convert it to a herbie with an emergency drain.
Same color I have on my tank. I have an overflow that is setup with 3 drains, each one at a different level.
