I started my tank with tap water( I know, I Know) but will be purchasing an Ro/Di system once I get back from vacation. In a few weeks. Is this algae green hair algae and will it slowly die off once I start using the Ro/di water. Or does anybody have any recommendations on what I could do to get rid of it faster.

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! Do you have a CUC (like emerald crabs, torches snails etc ? Definitely RODI water will be way better than tap water.

I have 5 or 6 turbo snails. And like 5-10 hermits. I was planning on adding more hermits as well when I get home

Bring some RODI water to a boil and carefully squirt it onto the algae with a turkey baster. It'll turn bright green and die immediately. Then it just brushes away. What I couldn't reach with a brush, my snails happily polished off. I cleared up my tank in a day and it hasn't come back.

It’s not a cure by any means, but if you’re feeding your tang algae I’d stop for a little bit. Let him graze some of that off, even if he doesn’t eat it he’ll tear it off the rocks trying

He grazes off what’s there and I feed Reef Frenzy
