if anybody has any pictures of zoas, acans, or favias that they had shipped and arrived DOA, please post them on here or email them to me. i had a big order come through that was delayed and would like some comparison pics so i can find out if they are ***** or dead please. thank you!

got them from fedex today, was supposed to be yesterday, it was packaged very well, but i am nervous because this is the first time i have had anything shipped. i am at work, corals are in bags floating in the tank at home. going to SLOWLY over a 5-6 hour period try to acclimate them to my system, but would like some comparisons for once they are in the tank. would being delayed a day do anything long term? i.e dying in a week? it is 7 rainbow acans, 2 rainbow favias, 1 zoa.

I know this is going to come as a shock but if it was me i would get them out of that crappy water and into the tank as fast as possible. By delaying doing that you are just going to really succeed in killing them if there is anything left alive. I understand the need to acclimate them but if they have been in the bags for two days its a whole new ballgame. The Acans should do well along with the Zoa but I couldn't tell you on the Favia.

I agree with Gazog, I would have only floated them for about 1/2 hour just to temperature acclimate. The longer they are in the bag the more the accumulation of toxins, lack of flow, less oxygenation, and more stress.

I would also consider putting them in a lower lighting area of your tank. I hope all goes well.

Not sure why you need pics from us...? Post what yours look like. Get them acclimated sooner rather than later. The water they are in is prolly no good.

Corals and fish are shipped from all over the world and do fine. Sometimes not. Depends on weather and such. Are these wild caught or tank raised here in the states? If given a time duration to make a claim on DOA. I'd make one to cover yourself. Then whatever survives if not all of them then submit only those. I don't know about Acan and Favias. I got mine locally. But Zoas willt ball up into little nothings. I have Kenya tree that will every once in a while look like wads of gum. Then next day be four or five inches tall. Good luck.

I would agree, get them out of that water ASAP! 15 minutes float should be plenty of time for the water in the bag to compensate to the tank temp. Then I Lugol's dip to make sure they are clean or heal any part starting to die (if there is any), then 2 hour acclimation if you are worried, 45min-1hour is fine with good water quality. Make sure all your tank parameters are in check and they should be fine. footballdude2k3, I dont think anyone keeps DOA pics. LOL You should be fine regardless, I once had an order and they wanted to ship it the cheapest, regardless of DOA gaurantee!!! So I sent a USPS coral shipment out on Monday and it got there Wednesday @ 7pm and EVERYTHING was great when it arrived! I guess the guy ALWAYS does this and hasnt had any problems yet. I think as long as the water they are shipped in is quality you should be fine with a 2-3day wait from ship date! My 2cents, hope it helps....
