New around here.

Good luck with the Reef PI. Hope you make a build thread out of it.

Thanks I am familiar with raspberry pi and have several of them doing various things.

Hello all, I have just started up my first salt water tank. I have been reading the information on here and trying to learn as much as possible. Many thanks to all that continue to make this site a great resource for the hobby. I have grown up with several different freshwater tanks through out the years with the largest a 55 gal.

So far I have the following set up,
Red Sea Reefer 250
Fluval SP2 return pump
Fluval 200W heater
40lbs of caribsea Life Rock shapes
40lbs of caribsea arag-alive Fiji pink sand

Waiting for the following to be delivered
2 Kessil A160WE
2 MP40wQD

I have also started to gather the required parts and am going to be building a reef-pi controller for the tank. I am trying to figure out the best fish to add. My wife is set on having a yellow tang. I would like to have some corals and I think that I will start with some softies. Right now I am one week into the hardest part of this so far. Waiting for the tank to cycle.
Welcome. And take your time. The longer you cycle and add slowly the better things will work out. We are here for you.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Since you’re on your way to having a cycled system, now is a great time to do tons of research while you’re waiting for it to finish.

What soft corals do you like and plan to have?

I hope you love the MP40s. I have two in my 40gal SPS frag system, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything else.

Also, I’m delighted that your wife is invested in the hobby with you. Getting a significant other onboard can be quite challenging, if not impossible. Don’t take it for granted, and give into some of the corals that she will want; it’ll make the hobby far more enjoyable.

By the way, don’t forget to start your build thread and share tons of photos so we can watch your progress. :)
