New copperband fish!

I just ordered my first copperband. Ive wanted one for a while but with prices, and the feeding and just overall fragility of them I have up until now passed.

I ordered from @Eric Cohen and TankStop. Should be here tomorrow and then into qt. And since I’ve got a few aiptaisa popping up everywhere I’m crossing my fingers it finds those delicious.

Mostly just sharing but if anyone has tips or tricks I’ll take those too!
My C.B.B. fish loves these live little neck Clams (Manila Clams). It gobbles these clams up. I get them at my local raw Seafood market. Or you can use frozen clams (uncooked). Before you put them in your main tank, (The Live clams) what has worked for me is I place the clams in a quarantine container for at least 24 hours. They do expel a lot of waste after you put them in fresher salt water. I change the water about 3 times, and yes they do throw out a lot of waste at this time. I don't want that crap going into my tank. I think it has to do with the shipping of these live clams. Then after cracking it open I wash it with a little saltwater and place it in the tank. (only leave it in the tank for about 6 hours, you don't want it decomposing too much) Then watch the CBB go wild. This has worked for me. PPS: My hermit crab likes it as well.

mine has been in the tank for a while now. It never seemed interested in the clams while in quarantine and I’m OK with that because I’ve had a live clam in the tank before and I may have one in the future so I don’t want to getting a taste for them. it took a week or so for the purple tang to leave him alone but he fits right in with the crew now and gobbles up all the food that I feed the tank. I feed a mixture of frozen mysis or brine shrimp, alternating every other day along with frozen blood worms or frozen angel food cubes , and also some frozen rods original.

Great job! Not an easy fish for sure!

So a nice little update…. I’ve had a few aiptaisa that were difficult to reach and kill so they had actually grown quite large. Anyway looking at the tank last night I noticed they were gone and I haven’t seen any new ones in some time! I think the copperband has decided to eat them. It’s the only new addition in quite a while.
