So ive ordered a fair amount of softy frags from mushrooms to cespitularia etc and the are supposed to come tomorrow around 12 from culturedreef.com according to ups. My coralrx shipment got delayed and is coming tomorrow as well from amazon, but knowing them it could show up as late as 5-7pm. I really dont feel like driving an hour to the lfs and getting ripped off on a dip. Can i just kill the lights on the tank and float all the bags for a few hours/long as needed to keep temps stable? And then acclimate when dip arrives? Dont wanna screw up 300 bucks worth of coral! Thanks!

If this is overnight shipping The corals should be fine in the bag in the tank being at temp until the dip gets there. You can even open the bag and start to drop some water in with them. Then when the dip gets there dip away! Corals are more ship capable than fish and if it's really a matter of hours I wouldn't risk putting something in my tank that wasn't dipped and QT.

This maybe to late this time, but next time. .......
I have a sponge in sump. When I need to acclimate new corals I squeeze the sponge add some tank water and drip acclimate. See photo, 1 of 26 carnation corals, dendronephthya sp, one of the most difficult corals. Recent arrival , 2 days old.

Yes they were shipped ups overnight. Thanks for the info!

Well corals just arrived, two mushrooms are off the plugs. Will try the shotglass method. All the bags are floating in the tank with lights off. Shipped yesterday at 5pm so hopefully they will be alright for another 5-6 hours. Saw critters in the bags already so definitely dipping! Gotta say im surprised how nervous I am about the whole removing plug/glue placement thing lol. Wish me luck
