Curious if anyone can help explain or identify what’s going on. Tank has been cycled and over last two-3 days have a new growth of what appears to be brown algae forming in my live rock. Currently no fish or coral added yet was planning on adding after this weekend. Is this a problem or would a CUC of sorts help?

A CUC is definitely the first step after completing your cycle and the growth is to be expected now that you have lights on. Let your tank stabilize after adding and monitor levels before you add more sensitive inhabitants. SLOW and steady wins this race any day. How long did you cycle your tank and what was your process?

I added live rock from LFS and 10 pounds live sand in fluval evo 13.5. It’s been 20 days since I first added water and began. It’s been testing salinity everyday and adding water appropriately. Checking ammonia, ph, nitrite and nitrate every 3 days or so. Been doing 1.5 gallon water change once a week. No fish no fish foods
