Possibly a yellow tang problem. I have a flame angel and yellow tang I QT'd/treated
at the same time per Humblefish's most recent guidelines (https://humble.fish/quarantine/) with
chloroquine phosphate. Then two rounds of General Cure. Both did GREAT in prophylactic treatment and ate like hogs, and I was adding prime every day or two in QT.
Before adding fish to display I added about 10 pounds of live rock into it from my very mature nano (3 years old), ceramic biomedia from same tank, a sponge filter that had been in same tank, and was adding a bit of frozen each day to feed the tank.
So I added the two fish to the display after it had been running about 10 days.
after adding Dr. Tim's (wonder if the bottle had been boiled in Phoenix summer heat?), Prime. More prime, more prime. As I wasn't sure about Dr. Tim, I bought what was available at Petsmart (Seachem Stability), then when I burned through that, the last few days I added API Marine Quick Start.
I am wondering if I might have burned him initially with ammonia,
as I do NOT believe the Dr. Tim's actually worked....though that's just a working hypothesis.
So, while the flame angel is excelling, the tang is NOT. Each day a LITTLE better, eating a LITTLE bit
more, swimming around a little bit more. The tang is (now in display) , a very hesitant fish. Specifically, 1) Seems very hesitant in general.... stays a LOT in one area with an overhang, not swimming around much;
2) while he seems to get out and around and eat A LITTLE more each day, it's more like ***picking at food** tentatively, and I am trying everything: nori clip, I am growing brine shrimp and loading the tank with fresh baby brine in the first 24 hours after birth) every other day,
frozen mysis in Seachem Garlic, and seaweed extreme. He won't touch the sea lettuce I have in there.
The only light on is a Kessel to grow sea lettuce in the tank and coralline to hopefully control nuisance algae in future plus ambient light.
I also have a HOB fuge with chaeto and a grow light. Tang's eating is strange after being so great in QT.
Anyone ever had something like this? Any suggestions other than wait and see? Any hypotheses?
