Hi I'm new to the site and i just got a 110 gallon tall acrylic tank center drilled with wet dry filter. I'm looking to get niger triggers down the line. What do i need to get to that point? Nothing is to basic for me. What i have is tank stand hood wet dry tank. What also do you all recommend? Is T5 best or is T8 ok? Do i need Halides? These are the type of things i need to know before i set up. Thanks

Whatever you do I highly recommend you start the tank with macro algaes usually in a refugium. the wet/dry would be a good place for something chaetomorphia which is "brillo pad" macro algae that will grow to fit any container.
Without corals no need for powerful lights.
From what I hear triggers are mean tempered fish usually kept 1 to a tank with only that one fish.
But that just what I heard and worth at most .02.

Keep us posted on your build.

Good Luck and Welcome! I agree that without corals you won't need crazy high light. I think that there are some great LED options out there for Fish only with Live Rock. My biggest suggestion is to read as much as you can on the forum and make a good plan.

Update tank is cleaned and into test for leaks stage. Also tested the my 2 t8 coralife lights.

Wonder how you keep that tank from falling :)
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your build.

All was well tank has no leaks, till i filled sump and tested pump and filled the over flow. Small leak in over flow at base but not bad. and then i took tank apart to tighten it and found my bulkhead was in wrong and now need a new one cause i have to cut it out to fix. yeah…but no worries will get new one this week. Then i hope to have an up and running tank of water at least.

Sounds like a great start! T-5 or T-8 is fine..
With larger fish like triggers, a good oversized skimmer is always a help... Hopefully you have space in the wet/dry to fit one?
As far as triggers... You can have a few different juveniles together... Blue jaw (aka blue throat), huma huma, Niger are not as aggressive as say a clown trigger, queen, or undulated... But please do keep in mind that they get really large and the 110 will not be big enough in a few years, but by then you will want to upgrade anyways! Lol

Yeah i know it will need to be put in larger tank but i'm getting a small trigger and watch it grow as long as i can, before i upgrade. I have a coralife 125 skimmer on the way. Is that a good brand?

Ok time for up date. I'm up and running. Salt level is great chemicals are all great. Added refugium and some chromic and damsels to start the cycle. Rocks didn't get ordered but will be here this week. Also did the math and I have 120 gallon not 110
