Today was a good day for the Reef! After Andy and I redid the aquascape, I had a few frags. ;) I had 4 nice sized chunks of Tyree Flower Pedal Cap, a nice Idaho Grape, and a few choice ORA Acros. Having these nice pieces in my sump was UNACCEPTABLE, so I made a trip to a not so local (to me) fish store, which happens to be a sponsor here on Reef2Reef, Sea Shells! I contacted Michelle the owner last night, and asked if she was interested in the frags, she agreed and away I went this morning! Sea Shells is having a Fathers Day sale this weekend as well, so it was a GREAT time to go.

After packing up my frags and making the trip, I was very pleased with the amount of credit that I was given. I had planned on using the store credit towards a purchase of a Vortech MP40w, which they keep in stock. GIven that....

Check this out:

Yup! One on each side!!! I had "good" flow before, with one at 100% in Reef Crest mode, now I have GREAT flow with 2 at 75%. I put them into Anti-Sync mode, if they both hit max at the same time my DSB was getting sent around the tank. :D I guess that is a good thing. ;)

While I was there, and since they were on "sale" I also picked up this:

A Battery back up! Something that would have been a nice touch is a second cord to connect the other pump. My backup came with one, but has outlets for 2.... Weird. No big deal, I am sure I can get one, or make one up.

Anyway, back to the tank, here are a couple more images from tonight:

Any ideas on this Acro? It is really that PURPLE from base to tip!

My new favorite, this is my son Logan peaking in from the other end!

I guess I have babbled on enough.... Please let me know what you think. :D

looks awesome. those vortechs are really nice. i keep mine in short pulse mode to get a nice wave going. i still need to get the battery back-up though.

oh, does your flower pedal cap grow slower than ather caps? i have a half dollar size piece and it seems to be taking forever to grow out. my other monti caps grow like weeds.

Thanks! No, the flower pedal grows like a weed too. :D

Cherish, thank you. I think so too!

Whoa... nice score on the Vortechs!

But I'd reconsider putting both pumps on the battery backup, since it'll only drain the backup's capacity more quickly. In case you have an outage that extends for more than 24 hours, you'll want to keep a minimum of flow for as long as possible. I learned that the hard way, myself. :(

Congrsts bro! I added two of these and it was amazing. The flow they produce is unreal.

Thanks! That is a great point, one pump for a max of 36 hours is better then 2 for 18. My next purchase is going to be a generator, I know I have been very lucky so far, and don't want to press it...

Looks so nice and clean also I like how open it looks.

Thank you! That was the goal in the re aquascaping. There are 3 separate structures, with lots of openings for flow and fish!

now, I'll have to save up for another one... LoLz... j/k... :)

awesome pics, new goodies, install, and corals... :D

The tank looks great! Congrats on the second vortech.

The purple acro looks like a really really nice Acropora Nana!

LOL! Yes, you do!

The tank looks great! Congrats on the second vortech.

Thanks Jesse. That may be it, I can't remember. :embarrassed: It sure is a show stopper for me though!

looks amazing, bro. Now you've got me thinking. I'll have to save up and get myself a second vortech.

I love new toys!! Super clean setup. Great pictures as usual. How long has your tank been set up? I have to have a baseline for when mine will look great... right now it's half past never. :)

Well, I sure can't complain so far! Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks Gary. The tank age is a tough one to answer, it has been moved 3 times in the last 5 years. It has been running in this location since Feb. 08. I have no plans or aspirations of moving again any time soon, that is for sure!

Mark those are amazing shot man .. Love the caps with the sps

That sounds familiar... In 10 years we've moved 5 times... we've been here about three years with no real plans to move soon. But if it looks that good after several moves, there's hope for me yet. :)

Well, I am glad I am not the only one! The funny thing is, we are in the same exact townhouse we lived in 9 years ago, if we would have just stayed here..... LOL!

Your tank will fill in, it just takes getting to a sweet spot, and then BOOM! Frags are colonies in no time.
