So currently, I have a mixed reef with 5 inhabitants. 2 Clown fish paired being hosted by an anemone, 1 Kole tang, 1 coral beauty angelfish, and a pistol shrimp. All of these in an uncovered reefer 350(75 gallon display). I had a lawnmower blenny and he jumped. I am pretty sure it was my fault for startling him late at night once. He was my favorite and I don't think I can add another since the kole tang might be an issue. I am going to cover the tank as I believe that might be the smartest think to do going forward. However, what options do I have for fish that I can add considering the live stock that I have? Should I leave things the way they are? I'd really like some fish that swim more in open water so we can see them more. Any ideas? Thanks ahead.

Yep, I️ won’t make an addition until my lid comes in. Mainly, I️ just want to know what I️ could add that would be compatible with my current stock.

If you have an established pod population you could go with a mandarin; otherwise, you could work go with more active inverts, like cleaner shrimp or red linkia starfish. To be honest, I like a lidless look, especially when you have some nice vortechs pushing waves back and fourth. I certainly lost a couple things in my 125 and 60 frag, but I worked on my aquascape to make things a little more aggressive vertically and I haven't had a jumper in years.

I'd get a goby to pair up with the pistol shrimp. Yellow Watchman would be nice.

Once you get a lid look into a wrasse. Yellow coris, leopard wrasse, radiant wrasse.

Thanks, I was actually thinking a leopard wrasse, do you think one would get bullied by anything I already have?

I have a friend that has fish that are common to jumping and none of his have jumped either. I honestly prefer the lidless look, but I am scared to get wrasse with out one.

Yea, I thought about this too, none of my current fish should bother the addition of a goby right?

Adding the goby would not be a problem. Honestly, the shrimp/goby pair is something I'll always have in my tank. Love the behavior. You're fairly lightly stocked. You could add a nice flasher wrasse for something that is more active in the open water in addition to the goby. As others have stated, I would for sure get a screen cover. They can be made to be recessed so you barely notice them.

Fang blenny. Active swimmers. Reef friendly (with the possible exception of small ornamental shrimp). Bold (as in curious, not misbehaved). And they get along with pretty much any fish (except other fang blennies). VERY underrated fish IMHO.
