I have ran into a great deal on a colony of over 40 nukes. I have never had any of these before so I was wondering if a few experts could give me some advice on keeping them alive. Light, flow, feeding and placement in tank? Additives that might help? They are going into a 29 gallon nano with T5 4 x 24wt a aquaC remora skimmer and a h.o. 280 emporer filter. I have ricordea and a 30 polyp duncan that is growing like a weed. Over 20 lbs LR and adding more soon. I have never had the best of luck with zoanthids or palys so I was wanting to find out as much as I can so I can keep these alive. I will put on a picture as soon as I get them. They are awesome. I also have a 30 polyp colony of palythoa grandis that is awesome.

I find them to be pretty easy as Iam no zoa expert but i have two colonies in diffrent tanks
They are both under

Lighting = T5
Placement = sand
Flow = medium
I dose Iodine and Amino acids
Feed Rods, cyclopeez

They are pretty easy. Mod light and let the polyps move gently in the current and target feed Mysis. I like Hikari Bio-Pure because they are smaller than other brands.

Hoe about frozen cyclops made by SFB, would that be a good food? Its real tiny.

I actually feed that regularly to my tank but the Mysis will make the Paly very happy. They can handle it. They will eat the Cyclopeeze too.

In my experience, they look their best when they are receiving medium/lower light, but will grow fastest when being blasted with light. It is a trade off between quick growth with shabby looks and vice versa. I don't feed mine anymore because I have no interest in making the colony grow any faster than they already are.

Post a pic when you get it

I keep it mid height with almost SPS flow and the color pops. Feeding a shot of goo that includes both foods mentioned and a few more ;) Very hearty eater.

Agreed very hearty eater....always taking in brine when i feed.
I have 150w Halide and my polyps are on the sand with medium flow...and they have sprouted babies at a decent rate!

I feed mine pellets, put them in the range of low to all the way to high 5" from the water surface under 8 T5s, no issue. They like good/ strong indirect flow. Sizes ranged from eraser head size for babies to nickle size for full sized adults.

Super old pics

Thanks for all the advice and the picture. I dont think I am as scared as I was before this thread. I ordered a 25 polyp colony of the nukes from Homegrownfrags and they will be here on the 2nd. I have never had any of these and my track record with zoa and palys is not very good. I have a 20 polyp colony of palythoa grandis and you cant kill them. My 30 polyp duncan is growing like a weed. I just want these nukes to grow and be happy. The color is my favorite and the deal I got on them was awesome.

IME: They are one of the easiest to grow. I had two polyps that have reproduced to about 100 in a little over a year. I rarely feed corals. 150W MH, about 30" below the light.

hmm. I feed mine kent microvert and they grow insanely fast I dont know how they can still be so expensive.

Actually they are coming down on price. I paid $75 for a 25+ polyp colony and just won a 22+ polyp colony of nukes and purple death off ebay for $41. It also had some polyps that was purple and green mixed. AWESOME!!!

little to mild flow and lights should work out well!
Can be a slow grower but over should be fine.
