i bought one new from someone selling it and wanted to go another way for flow. so i got a good price on it. as for using it. i am very happy with it. setup right it have been a great flow/wave device. it allowed me to ditch pump from being in the tank and looking bad so i get a good clean look. i drilled all the holes for it.

I'm thinking about getting one, is the cleaning really necessary? It would be a pain to unplumb from the back of the tank every month.
I've had one on my closed loop for the past 4 years. I really love the way it changes the flow in the system and the fact that I do not have power heads all over the place.
I clean mine out every 6 month's or so. I've even gone as long as a year without cleaning. It started making a knocking sound when it got really dirty.
Mine is mounted under the tank so it is really easy to get to.

thanks for the replies guys. I'm looking for reliability issues, how long they've been up and running, maintenance issues, and the like. Looking to set up a couple of these on a 375 and be done with powerheads.
no, you put ball values on the inlets and outlets, close them off and just remove the top of the OM unit and clean. not that big of a deal.
