I am interested in setting up a mixed color morph BTA tank. I understand allelopathy and chemical warfare is a serious concern. I would like to know more about these competitive reactions in order to better know how to overcome them.

I have heard carbon and ozone help, but I do not understand why. What exactly are anemones releasing and what can be used to remove it from the water? I imagine by removing the combative chemicals from the water it might be possible to make them stop competing and flourish.

Thanks in advance for your input and discussion.

I may have this wrong but I believe the chemical warfare comes from keeping different species like a carpet and bta for instance. With a bta specific tank, you really only have to worry when one dies and disintegrates. It then releases it nematocysts into the water where it can damage or kill it's tank mates, including other btas.

From what I've read on the forums akabryanhall is correct. IF you keep the tank only BTA then you won't have a problem.

I have a tank with 6 different BTA Morphs, and so far no issues. This tank also has a tube anemone in it.

Maybe I have overestimated fighting they do.

thanks rev!

That is very interesting. How big of a tank? Do you have pictures?

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I have a 20 gallon long and just purchased a GBTA, would I be able to get a LBTA or RBTA without a chemical problem?

Welcome to R2r! Um you wouldn't have room for either of those options. Stay with the gbta by itself.
