Overflow box trouble

I think you need a bigger pump. You need one that will push the same or a bit more gph. I remembered this being a problem. Lots of folks on the net with same situation. Need more gph. Get a variable power pump that exceeds your overflow box's capacity by a little bit. That way you can dial in the power needed get a full siphon going and it will push the bubbles out of the tube.
Agreed. Or look at the pipe and head pressure. Let the t go full blast and avoid barb connectors. The can cut a lot of power.

I'd look at head loss first. IF it's actually underpowered for the overflow.

Yes
The prefilter overflows its not my pump Im restraining it with a ballvalve I can go much higher in gph if I need to
K that was the question I was asking. I believe you said the pin was the tube filling with air.

Yes you need the second tube or the larger tube. I ordered my second tube as the larger tube. Look on the amazon. Eshopps tube.

It's weird you having this problem because I have a much larger pump than you do and the same overflow.

How could it be under powered for an overflow
It's the same as head loss. But reverse.

The pipe is too big for the tiny amount of water.

Try slowly throttling back the valve and reduce the flow more would be my first thought.

Do the tiny adjustment ten to twenty minutes apart.

I have a D.C. Motor now. So I can drop it to nothing. Usually the tube fills with air. Like I described above.

I almost learned that the hard way.

A overflow can't be to big for a pump the overflow can only suck what the pump puts in
Nope. Try it. It can in that eshopps. I bought mine new and had it three years. I quite like it. I'm on my second return pump now. Pervious one was non variable ac.

Im really sorry and i know your trying to help me but I don't think you understand the problem
Head loss and pipe whatever has nothing to do with it

It's a sumped tank. Its all about head loss and pressure on both input and out put. The Pressure is the water.

Be cool. Hope it works out.

My return pump is 550 gph going 3 feet up a 1/2 PVC line it is push to much water from the sump to the DT for the overflow to suck back down with a 1.25inch utube and a 3/4 inch bulk head so what does my return pump have to do with it Im just confused sorry

What you're saying is you get bubbles trapped in the u tube and reduces the amount of flow through the overflow box ?

Yes and when I allow more flow to push the bubbles though and out the other side the overflow can't keep up

Ok had the same problem. I got a piece of coarse foam to put behind the sieve to diffuse the bubbles. I have a marine depot brand overflow which is about the same as an eshopps and it solved that problem for me.
