1. Can I setup a herbie overflow without using the durso-style curved top on the siphon and/or the overflow? What is the advantage to using that curved top on the pipes? I see that used in 95% of the examples shown on the forums but my overflow box is pretty tight on space (image #4 shows how much room would be left with either 1" or 1.25" durso-style top on the pipes) and I'm wondering if I need them.
2. Will a herbie work with around 700-800 gph with a 1" siphon and a 1" overflow? I know the durso instructions say to overside the pipework meaning I'd use a 1.25" pipe with a 1" bulkhead. Since this a siphon rather than a normal durso, can I get away with 1" pipes all around?
Any help is appreciated.
