Overflow strainer on return line

I really do not like the idea of loc line on my return. I was planning on drilling a return bulkhead and thinking of using a overflow strainer. Would this pose any problems or limit flow? This is what I am referring to. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/bulkhead-overflow-strainers.html

I would think over time it could become clogged and restrict flow. And may possibly limit your flow to begin with. May work good if you cut out every other bar and alternated for each section. If that makes sense. My main concern would be the flow effect on any coral in close proximity to the return.

I figured as much. Thinking of just using a educator off the bulkhead or maybe a 90/45 elbow.

Doesn't take much to screw off once in a while to clean so I wouldn't worry much about clogging

Use a threaded bulkhead and strainer without tape for easy removal for cleaning
