overrated zoas & palys

For me my Nukes are brightest directly under MH and my PD are best down low.
I think Nukes are one of the best protopalys available.

This thread is based on opinions and as usual in this hobby there are alot of them. I have to say that I favor palys over zoa's for size but I have some really nice zoas as well.

I guess for me I really wanted the rastas and when they came in I was really disappointed with the size. If you know they are small before you order them you may not be disappointed thus why I started the thread.

If you had one with rasta colors and sour apple size you would have one bad A_ _ polyp.

I have seen purple death locally that are not impressive but Rev's PD were real nice.

PPE are overrated to me as well. I don't own them but have seen them and have no desire to pay that much for a slow growing polyp.

Right now I really want some king midas but have not pulled the trigger because they do not look bright yellow. I like color that stands out from a few feet away. I am sure some day soon I will try them.

What about candy apple reds? Do they appear mostly green or does the red stand out?

Joe

As far as overrrated, I think the RPE's just don't do it for me but the Spotted RPE's that a whole other story, actually it's a love affair I have with them! :D

Joe, according to Kigs the King Midas are one of the most yellow zoanthids available, here is a picture (Vince forgive me for using your pictures, I hope you won't mind) of his King Midas, they jumped out at me the first time I saw them

Faviafreak I love those too. I have a wild colony I found that has green sprinkles.

Aren't those called, Magicians?

I have heard them called blue magicians but mine are green so I guess you could call the green Magicians. Not an impressive name, how about sand man palys.

Anyone have any comments on candy apples or how bright the King Midus are. I am not a true collecter I only want the bright ones. I understand some people like to colllect all the LE.

Thanks Joe

IMO rainbows are overrated with the exception of raptors rainbows. Those are awesome looking.

I'm also not a fan of all the blue zoas out there. The only ones that I've had and actually liked were the blues I got from Marv a few years ago.

Jgoslee what about the pink elephants in your avatar. Are they as large as they look?

Joe

I think Purple Hornets are over-rated...the polyps are so small...like Pufferpunk says, you can only enjoy them with a magnifying glass. Maybe when the get to be a big colony, they be impressive.

Now I got these at at swap for $10 as just plain brown polyps, but I like them cause they were so large..a month later they look like this...

I've had these yellows a month and they just keep getting better

I pick up this colony totally browned out but the polyps are large most over 1/2" and it's a PE of some type and the color is changing everyday, they are getting a bluish ring, the skirts are still up in the air, but the mouths have turned PE green

Those PEs are nice. I have some Purple Hornets and I don't think theya re small. They are as large as Tubbs. But I guess even size is a matter of personal taste.

My Le rainbows are a beautiful color but are very small need a magnifying glass to check them out. My mohawks are great high MH and good water current. I was thinging about rastas but dont want to use the glass again.

Had some of these Rainbows. They were tiny and melted away over time.
