Have been reading that others have had issues with certain Z's/P's, specifically PE's, melting on them. I have some Happy PE's that are thriving, but have lost some RPEs and PPE's.Any thoughts on tank placement, lighting, flow etc for these?Different conditions for specific variations of PE? Thanks.

I had good luck in an area of high indirect flow and they were at the bottom of my 65. Personally I don't think light is a huge issue for these so long as your properly acclimate. It seems to be more of an issue with the PEs that have the lighter colors like pinks. HTH

So Lighting seems to be more of an issue, as in more importance/ care not to overdo it with the lighter colored PE's, or melting seems to be more of an issue?thanks WR

IME its more of an issue with not overdoing the lighting rather than the lighting causing melting. The two things that I have seen as huge with these in terms of avoiding the melting have been flow - as much indirect and random flow as you can give them without closing the polyps and temperature - if you can keep your temp a lighter lower than average in a normal reef tank these seem to do a little better.

Agreed! They like the same parameters/conditions as acroporas, high intermittent flow, and little to none nitrates & phosphates.

My RPEs have been really hardy for me and do well just about any place I put them. I've got them in two different places and the ones in low flow/low light have gotten huge, they're probably about 3/4" polyps. But the ones in more light/flow have grown quicker for me.
