I got a Pintail Wrasse last week,he looked great, and is eating like a pig. Three days ago, he started scratching on the rocks in his QT, so I started treating with cupramine bringing it up to .4 over the last few days. Today he started to show signs of swim bladder problems. It's not severe yet, but he has trouble keeping upright, and tends to do a spin, especially when excited and chasing food. Does anyone have suggestions for my next move?

I have seen wrasse do strange things in the presence of copper. Chelated copper (Copper Power) tends to be less harsh on wrasse than ionic forms of copper.

Check out this chart. It was put together by several members here based on QT experiences and different methods/meds.

With the scratching have you done a FW dip to see if flukes are present?

I would FW dip for 5 minutes and then try other forms of treatment instead of cupramine for the time being.

Ok, I put him in a new QT with no cupramine, so should I wait and see if he recovers before I do a freshwater dip?

He is still having trouble staying upright, when he is fairly still he is ok but when he gets excited and tries to dart away, he will lose it and start to spin.

As stated previously it sounds like a bladder issue. If he is still scratching then I would dip for 5 minutes. Make sure the temp is the same. No more than 5 minutes. He should get some relief from the flukes if they are present. I would then observe and then prazi would be my next course of treatment

I agree with this^^^

Can you post a pic or video? When I hear of wrasses spinning I think spinal injury....

I can't get the video to load. Spinal injury would be caused by running into the glass or top, right? And obviously nothing could be done for that. He still eats with with gusto, it takes him a few tries spinning at the food, but he gets it. If a swim bladder problem, would venting the swim bladder help him out?

What message are you getting when trying to load the video? Maybe we can help with that bc truly that will help the most. Swim bladder vs spinal injury is usually easy to differentiate. Sometimes wrasses heal from it but unfortunately many times they do not. Venting swim bladder can be done but can be tricky so before doing anything too extreme let’s see if we can get that video to post so we can really help you out.

Tried with my kindle fire, says mp4 not supported either

The video works.

That looks more like a spinal injury (all too common among fairy wrasses) than a swim bladder issue. Spinal injuries have no specific treatment that I know of - they either resolve ... or they don't.
