That's what I'm trying to figure out. I didn't expect to see color from his claws on molted skin. You sure its not a molt?
Oh, what a relief! We rarely see this guy, and he's in my son's cube. I about panicked when I saw this because my son would be devastated when he came home from school! Seeing a molt means he's alive and growing. I just started qt on a Randall's goby, so once he's in with the shrimp hopefully we'll see more of him.It looks see through .. so I'd say it's a molt .. and yes on molts you will get color as well .. !
I had my cleaner shrimp die few weeks ago .. I was gutted .. he was my first inhabitant I'd ever bought .. but it was very clear to see that it wasn't a molt !Oh, what a relief! Thanks for sharing (it didn't fell right to "like" that comment ) Sorry about your loss. We do get attached to our little critters.I had my cleaner shrimp die few weeks ago .. I was gutted .. he was my first inhabitant I'd ever bought .. but it was very clear to see that it wasn't a molt !
That's interesting. This is the only inhabitant in the tank. Here's another picture after I pulled it out. That split in the middle is usually where they escape their molt so I would join the bandwagon saying it's a molt. They are worth pulling out and checking sometimes though, I have found a lot of animals that molt can have trouble escaping them sometimes. Many shrimp, crabs and even tarantulas have died while molting from either being unable to break free or being unable to do it in time before a predator find them in a soft and vulnerable state.
