Please help to identify

Hi,

My tank was established March 2015. Since then I've noticed this things in the back of my tank. Does anyone know what it is? Is it harmful if it made its way to the front of the tank, and how do you get rid of it?

Thank you! I just googled pineapple sponge and they look exactly like the same thing that's in my tank. Should these things be controlled or just let em go?

Just leave em alone, they will die off eventually, and don't harm anything.
