Please Help! What is this?

Hello friends,

My buddy’s tank has this strange stuff growing on his sand bed. I couldn’t figure out what it was definitively. Please take a look at pics and let me know what you think.

I do not know his tank parameters but he is testing them now.

I’m stuck between some kind of cyano slime or dino but there are no micro bubbles like I’ve seen before with dino

To begin with I need assistance with identifying.

I would say Cyano. Is that a fine grain sand? Use some chem clean, if it works you will know for sure.

Careful with Chemiclean.

While effective, I understand that it reduces oxygen levels in the water. Have a healthy sized water change ready upon completed treatment.
