I was given live rock and sand from a friend when I started my small aquarium about 7 months ago. He did not have these in any of his tanks, and neither he nor anyone at our local fish store can ID them beyond that they are Zoas or Palys, with most thinking the former. They would be critters from Hawaiian waters and have grown from nothing visible to what is here over about 7 months. I am not a photographer and therefore have attached 4 different attempts at effective photos. First is from my iPhone camera as is, second using the "Aquarium Cam" app that is a little duller than I see with my eye and the third filtered to a little more vibrant than I am seeing in my tank using a Nanobox Mini LED light slightly enhancing the white/lime channel with balance in the royal blue, violet, blue/cyan channels. (This makes my fish look better than the dedicated blue reef lighting and since this is basically a FOWLR tank, except for these hitchhikers, I don't focus on the coral frequencies.)
The fourth image is probably the closest to what I am seeing, but the portion around the green to which the tentacles attach is almost a deep purple that doesn't show up well.
Any ideas?

Thanks! looking at pictures online it does seem to be that one and apparently they are commonly found in the pacific. Is Protopalythoa mutuki the scientific name? Seems as if there is a mixed bag of answers as to whether that one has palyotoxin or not.

Not sure on the scientific name , but those are definitely palys. There are probably a handful of green varieties. All Palys will slime when moved, touched or fragmented. It is safe to presume these are toxic. Always handle with care. Some people consider these a pesk because they multiply rapidly. I will always have a soft spot for them though.
