plumbing question

Infact is a durso

Gotta clean out that overflow... no sand can be under the rubber bulkhead gasket!

If you want a reallt quiet system, think about converting it to a Herbie system... That's what i did. Its dead quiet. Plus, gives that extra piece of mind by having an emergency overflow if ever needed, lol. I had a similar setup in my overflow as yours. Turned one drain into the full siphon line and the other into the emergency drain. Then, ran a return over the rim of my tank.

Like another poster mentioned, flex tubing is easier, but won't work for the full siphon line on a herbie system. That line needs to be hard plumbed due to the fact you need a gate valve to set the flow! If you go this route, don't use a cheap ball valve from HD...get a nice Spears gate valve from BRS... you'll be glad you paid the extra for that one!

It isn’t really loud. I’d keep the durso for now due to the amount of time it would possibly take and I’m trying to clean the overflow and then plumb it hopefully today

I was just gonna write the same thing. This is a great suggestion. You can do it in stages.

good thinking. Better to drill another bulkhead in there so you don't have the return going over rim of tank. Gate valve instead of ball valve is another good idea, but not completely necessary, and ball valves can be bought readily at home center. You also don't have to hard plump the valve. Just glue in a nipple to both sides of valve and attach flex hose to both sides. Or hard plumb valve onto on side, from bulkhead, or on top of sump, and connect flex hose to that.
Also. Stockman standpipe, or Hofer gurgle buster are better single drain choices than Durso, IMO

May sound like a very dumb question at this point but when connecting the pvc to the bulkhead where the hose(s) used to be. Would i have to remove anything or buy anything to add the elbos and pipes?

Prime and glue both bulkhead, and 1" pvc pipe to start your connections

Bulkhead to tank gets no glue. Rubber washer goes inside tank, nut on outside gets hand tight, then 1/8 turn with wrench. Do not over tighten.
Prime, let dry, then glue pipe and bulkhead on bottom where pipe slides into bulkhead, using pvc primer and glue/cement.
Get a pair of pliers and wiggle clamp where screw is to break it open. Maybe get a screwdriver under clamp to help it along. Not too much, don't want to break pump outlet. Could use a hack saw or grinder too. Not a good idea to put a clamp in water. Just fit tubing making sure it's the right size to fit nice and snug, then cable tie wrap if you want.

Take a side shot of the pump outlet

Looks like 1". Stick a 1" pipe in there to make sure
