Potassium Test Kit

We are both using the Red Sea tests though. I was thinking of switching to Salifert since they are supposed to be more accurate with Mg. Great, now Salifert has some faulty tests?

Note to the reef community: Stop making all these extravagant (sp?) toys and get us some trustworthy test kits.

Ok, this is getting retarded now. I just did back to back tests again with new water from AC right out the jug.

2 x Salifert = 1450
2 x Red Sea = 1200
ummm....yeah:neutral:

hahaha....... The Mag fairy must be dosing your tank at night while you are sleeping. Chris if you can give some of your water to Mitch tonight I can test it tomorrow. I will be seeing him tomorrow.

And Jay, I will give the test kit to Mitch tomorrow also for the Potassium.

And I will have another Potassium test kit ready for use this coming weekend, But P/U will be in S.H.

I wont be able to get over to Mitch's tonight, but thanks for the offer. I'm just tripping that the Red Sea test was lower than the Salifert...nothing is making sense now.

Mitch, Bring me some of your water and I will test it and see what it reads. I think 1400 with the red sea kit will put you at 1000 with my seachem kit.

Way cool
nice guys trying all these text kits. I've been dosing potassium for a long time now.
My reds are red and pinks are pink and some purples pop also.

And what I've read is redsea test kits works good with there products (supplement).
Plus With mag lps use up more mag then softies and sps. But chalices uses the most. This what I've seen in my tank. After adding some chalice to my tank I had to start dosing it. Before it was just added when I did weekly WC

Mitch and Chris I haven't yet. Been out. I will will do it in a little while.

ZEF my corals have colored up a lot since I started potassium about a month ago.

OK the results are in. Mitch's water tested Mag @ 825 with the seachem test kit. And he said he as not did a water change in about a month and does not dose. I/O is his salt mix, so I would think that 825 could be right.

Mitch I agree with Rick. IO salt has very low mag. Like under 1100. When I use to use it many years ago. I'm sure they change it many times.

Rick: glad to see the potassium working out for you. I think about a year ago everyone mostly bart was asking how I get so much red out of my acro. If rc didn't delete most our post or my post I would find what I found out about potassium and potassium iodine and post it here.

man that means its off by 600 from Red Sea test kit. I'm gonna test it with Red Sea real quick to make sure I'm right on how much it's off.

nevermind. I forgot I dosed 28 oz of Mg tonight so that will bring me up a bit. I need to get that Seachem test kit and figure out how much my tank is using up.
