I’m noticing my salt mix isn’t performing like I expect it too anymore. Looking for help.

About 6 months ago I bought a box of hw marine reefer salt from @BRS because it was recommended by them. It seemed to be a good salt up until a few weeks ago. Every batch I make now ends up cloudy, and I noticed some faint blue splotches in the raw box of salt (see picture).

I’ve been storing it in my closet, I’m maybe halfway through the box, and I’m mixing it the same method I always have.

Any ideas what I should do differently? Is it okay to do a water change with cloudy water? Do salts have a shelf life I’m unaware of?

With the shadowing edges of the blue spots, I would venture some strain of bacteria or mold is growing. This could also cause some clumping.

What is the humidity like where you are? Do you keep the container tightly sealed?

It’s definitely absorbed moisture, my next purchase of salt will be a bucket with a lid.

Is moisture a problem?

I bought a 5 gal bucket and a twist lid for them from Menards to store my salt. No moisture issues. As soon as I buy salt I transfer to the bucket so it' not in the bag anymore.
