People say these are hardy corals, very difficult if not impossible to kill, yet I have so much to trouble with mine.

I got the toadstool on the 11th Feb, here’s a picture:

It was like that for a few days and since then it hardly comes out. Now it looks like this and it’s been like this for weeks:

Then the GSP, got that on the 14th on June, same story, initially it was out, not it never comes out:

My parameters are:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrates: ~30-40
Phosphate: 0.12
Calcium: 395
Alk: 7.6
Mag: ~1400

Initially when I got both, I had a Fluval Marine 3 LED light, recently swapped that for a EcoTech Radion G5 Blue, but these problems existed before the light change.

I‘m truly lost and want to progress into other corals, but just don’t have the confidence if I can’t get these right.

Could it be the parameters, could it have been the old light, or something else that I’m overlooking?

Any thing you guys can suggested would be appreciated.

What’s your salinity, flow, and do you use RO water? My toadstool is my problem child. When I got it was wide open with all of it polyps fully extended at the store. Then for the next 6ish months it would extend the polyps but wouldn’t open the tips. I tried moving it and leaving it for a few weeks I finally gave up, glued it to the rock and forgot about it. And within 2 weeks it was fully extended like in the store. So I would try leaving it and letting it chill.

the gsp I couldn’t say; maybe your flow isn’tstrong enough. Mine grows like a weed, but my first barely opened.

Take a water sample to your lfs and have them test everything.

My salinity is 1.026, for flow I have 1x MP10 producing what looks like a fair amount of flow (the app says 458.5 GPH and it’s 33 gallon tank) and yes, I use RO water. The MP10 is nearer the top of the tank than the middle, wondering if changing the position will help, that said, I have 2 BTAs that move nicely and are thriving.

I’ll take a sample of water to the LFS and have them test it.

That really weird about the gsp then if you can keep BTAs no problem then it should be thriving. The toadstool I think it’s just a matter placing it and forgetting about it. Which is hard to do especially when you have other more difficult corals and nems thriving. Try moderate flow and lighting when you place it. Does the BTAs walk across the gsp or near them? It could be getting stung. I’ll link a pic with my placement and hopefully it can help you with yours. Good luck!

If you have other things like the rba doing well I'd honestly try other stock that you are looking at, here's the lps section of my tank. It's got some green that's finally dieing out I know, but the coral looks good right? Here's the thing, I also have GSP in the frag area it's been there for about a year and a half and 'maybe' doubled in size. Idk why it doesn't grow better, I like you can't find anything specificly wrong it just doesn't do great in my tank, but other stock does. My advice is that if everything else is fine parameters acceptable etc just let it be and don't let it hold you back from trying something different. For me personally the nutrients are a touch on the high side but all tanks are different and I know others run higher nutrient tanks than I do.
