Hello, So A Member, lucky just ordered 2 nems . This perked my interest . what do You do for acclimating a nem ? Do You use a dip of some type before adding? Thanks !

I dumped a cup of water from my aquarium in with it, every 5 minutes, for 45 minutes, then put it (and the rock it was on) in my tank.

I can see a temp & long acclimation. is it common to treat with cipro?

I drip acclimate mine for an hour and a half to two hours...one drip a second out if the line if possible... first I empty all but a few inches of water out of the bag.. this let's me raise the SG of the water in the bag easier because most places I get stuff from is only 1.022 SG and I keep my tank around 1.026 SG.
I will only treat the nem is if is showing signs of massive stress. If not it goes right into my tank.

yes it does ! I'm the same with fish . I need to look into phases of how anem looks from healthy to sick . Amoo speaks of this in his writeup/article

You should always evaluate the nem prior to adding to your tank. I do this, but a healthy nem will go in without treatment.

Next month I will be setting up a 5 gal QT. I am going to be getting roughly 10 rock flower nems and a BTA if I can find one from the ocean. I want to make sure they have time to acclimate to tank living before I add them to my DT.
I doubt I will have to use Cipro due to they should be immune to almost everything already coming out of Galveston..[emoji23]

Ok so a sick nem I can assume looks faded & whitening, slack & open mouth . I know the foot must be in good shape . Anything else?

I float them to temp acclimate and then place then in the tank just like with fish. Drip acclimation has no benefits and can cause harm. If it is a gigantea or Magnifica I place in QT first. Any other type I put straight into the display tank.

Just FYI there was an accident a few days ago that sent a bunch of gas into the ship channel. :-\

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I will have evaluate the shoreline before I do any gathering.
Least the good news is my background used to be in environmental services. I cleaned up a lot of oil spills and rehabed animals in the past..
As long as the critters I'm looking for is submerged still they should be fine. Gas and oil sit on the top 1-2 inches of water. Gas will burn off with the sun and leave a residue of sheen that will just need to be cleaned off the beaches.
